In short
Warlord Arenas, an independent game by GrubbsieDev (“we”), collects as little as it can. There is no advertising, no third-party analytics and no tracking, and nothing is ever sold or shared for advertising.
Offline matches against a bot are played on your device and send us nothing. When you play online, we keep an anonymous account, your online matches and your ranked rating. You can delete your account in the game at any time.
What we collect when you play online
- An anonymous account. The first time you play online, our server makes you an account: a random ID, a secret that proves the account is yours, and a ladder name made from the ID (such as “Ashen Falcon 27”). You never give us a name, an email address or a password. We store the account ID, its ladder name, when it was made and last used, how many matches it has played, and a one-way hash of the secret, never the secret itself.
- Your online matches. For each match: the room code, the map, when it started and ended, the champions each side picked and banned, every command the match accepted (enough to replay it), the result, and each side's kills, deaths and creep kills. We use these to settle results, keep the ladder honest, show you your stats and the game's ban rates, and balance the game.
- Connection details for each side of a match: how many times it connected, how many of its commands were refused, how often its game fell out of step with the server's, and how long a stand-in bot played for it. We use these to find network problems and to handle players who leave.
- Your ranked rating. A hidden skill rating, the points and tier you see, and your ranked games, wins, losses and draws for each season.
- Game Center. If you are signed in to Game Center on your device, the game links your Game Center player ID to your account, so your account follows you to a new device. After checking Apple's signature on the sign-in, we store the player identifiers Apple provides for this game and when they were linked. We never receive your Apple Account email or password. To unlink, delete your account (below).
What stays on your device
- Your account's key. The account ID and its secret are kept in your device's Keychain, so you stay signed in. The key is not synced through iCloud Keychain, but it is part of your device's backups, and it stays if you delete and reinstall the game, so you keep your account.
- A match log. At the end of each match, against a bot or online, the game adds a line to a file on your device: the game's version, your device's model, the time, the map, the champions and their levels, the bans, which heroes fell and when, and the result. It is never sent to us.
- Your settings, such as volume and graphics, which tips you have seen, and how many matches you have finished.
Deleting the game removes the match log and your settings. The Keychain key can remain, as above.
What we do not collect
No name, email address, phone number or password. No location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. No advertising identifier or device identifier. No browsing history, health or financial information. The game has no chat, no ads and no in-app purchases. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and the game does not ask to, because it does not.
We have not added any analytics, advertising or crash-reporting service to the game. The game is built with the Unity engine, and Unity's analytics, crash reporting, performance reporting, ads and in-app purchase services are switched off.
Like any internet service, our server sees your device's network address while you are connected. It is not stored in our database or with your account. To limit how fast new accounts can be made, the server holds recent addresses in memory only.
What other players can see
- In an online match, your opponent sees your ladder name, and in ranked play, your tier.
- Once you have played five ranked matches, your ladder name, tier, points, games and wins appear on the ranked ladder. Anyone can read the ladder, in the game or from our server.
- Ban rates are totals across all players and name no one. Your hidden rating, account ID and Game Center identifiers are never shown.
Where it goes
Our game server runs on Fly.io, in Chicago, and its database on Neon, in Ohio: both in the United States. They store and process this data only for us. Our server's logs record what it does, including account IDs, ladder names, tiers and ratings, room codes, match events and the network address of each connection as the server sees it, and Fly.io keeps those logs for a limited time.
Apple handles Game Center itself, under Apple's own privacy policy. We share this data with no one else, and we never sell it.
How long we keep it
- Your account, its secret, your rating and any Game Center link: until you delete your account.
- Match records: kept to verify results and balance the game. When you delete your account they stay, but no longer point to you.
- Backups: our database host keeps a short restore history, so deleted data can remain there for up to six hours.
- Server logs: for Fly.io's retention period, after which they are deleted.
Deleting your account
In the game, open Settings › Account and tap Delete account. Once you confirm, our server permanently deletes, straight away:
- your account and its ladder name;
- its secret;
- your rating, points, tier and ranked record;
- its Game Center link and the records of its Game Center sign-ins.
Your past matches stay, without your name: each seat you played keeps its champions and stats but no longer points to any account. The game also removes the account's key from your device. If you play online again, you get a new account.
You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by writing to the address below.
Children
Warlord Arenas is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and say so in the game.
